About M & J Bowers

Established in 1973 in Yeovil, Somerset, M & J Bowers Ltd were pioneers at the very start of the recycling industry, when the importance of recycling paper and cardboard waste was first realised.

By 1984 the secure destruction of confidential data became a key issue for professional businesses. With our existing shredding facilities, M & J Bowers were at the forefront of secure confidential waste management and our reputation as a data and document destruction company was quickly recognised by organisations including regional council departments, legal organisations and medical institutes located throughout the South West.

We’ve been winning some awards…

M&J Bowers were recently nominated in the Yeovil Chamber of Commerce business awards 2020 . We’re delighted to say that we won Environmental or Green Business of the Year and also The Yeovil Chamber Overall Business of the Year…

The judges were impressed with the submission from Andrew Bowers as it demonstrated a forward thinking company that started before recycling was ‘fashionable’ and a requirement of businesses.  Throughout its lifetime M&J Bowers have been able to demonstrate a commitment to working with local businesses to help them improve the environment credentials and practices, we were impressed that much of this work and knowledge was shared free of charge.  We were impressed by the plans for the future, including new, more environmentally friendly lorries and an ever expanding list of items that can be recycled.

The judges were unanimous in their belief that this coupled with the very strong family ethos and history, and dedication to the town and wider area, made them a worthy winner for both Environmental Business of The Year and the Yeovil Chamber Overall Business of the Year 2020.
